An up to date NMDS-SC account with full worker records may give you eligibility to access the Workforce Development Fund (WDF) if you meet the criteria. This funding is a contribution towards the learning and development of your staff. Employers can claim back a contribution towards the costs of employees completing health and social care qualifications, Apprenticeships and learning programmes. Employers who directly incur costs for learning and development, such as course fees, can access the WDF to reclaim a contribution towards these costs.
Having an NMDS-SC account has other benefits, including being able to share data with your local authority, who have asked you to share information with them. By giving permission via your NMDS-SC account, local authorities you contract with will be able to see the organisation’s name, address and NMDS-SC number; number of workers; number of worker records entered; number of full worker records entered to WDF eligibility standard and the date your NMDS-SC was last updated. No “person identifiable” data is shared.
Other benefits of having an account means the ability to share information on your NHS Choices page (all social care employers have a presence on this site), as well as being able to use your data to make informed decisions about your workforce via your dashboards. You can use your data to compare with others in the sector. The Care Quality Commission (CQC) receives data from the NMDS-SC and uses it as part of its overall suite of intelligence about the sector.
