Dorset Active Care Forum

These inspirational meetings support Activity Co-ordinators, and they focus on activity provision across ALL care services.  These forums are open to all of our colleagues and peers, in order to embed a truly whole team approach to the work we do. So, if there is a manager, member of the care team, resident or relative (of a resident, of course!) who you think would benefit from attending – please invite them along!! We’re hoping to have Jan Millward with her ‘Rural Rhymes and Reminiscing’, a gentle stroll down memory lane with a mix of original poetry and memorabilia. Some of you may know Jan as she was an Activity Coordinator herself for 14 years and has also published six poetry books. Joining the the lineup will be Katie Elliot, also an Activity Coordinator, to talk to us about new legislation surrounding Balloon Releases. Katie will also be showing us how to do some simple balloon decorating. We’ll also be finding out about all of your recent and upcoming activities! Please now book your place through Eventbrite. To do so, simply follow one of the links below, and book onto the March meeting of your choice.  Please remember to register everyone attending, so we know how many biscuits we’ll need! The details are as follows: Tuesday 11th September 2018 from 10:00 until 12:30 at – Charlton Down Village Hall, Herrison Hall, Sherren Ave, Charlton Down, Dorchester, DT2 9UA. New and Aspiring Managers Network

Are you a ‘new’ Registered Manager? Or are you aspiring to be a manager in the near future? Do you feel you would benefit from support amongst others who are in a similar position? Do you want to provide support to members of your team who you feel have the potential to develop their career?     Partners in Care have been facilitating this network which supports managers in the earliest stage of their journey into management, and ensures they have a good foundation to build upon at this exciting, but often daunting, time in their career. The group is chaired by an experienced Registered Manager, with support from the Partners in Care team. We will also be joined throughout the year by our Skills for Care Locality Manager who will lead a discussion at the October meeting focussing on Managers Induction Standard no9: Manage Self. There will also be an exciting opportunity to sign up for some support from an independent, experienced local manager acting as a mentor so please discuss this with your line manager before our group meeting if you wish to be involved. You are warmly invited to join this exciting group, or nominate the appropriate members of your team.  Details of the next network meeting are as follows:              Date:         Tuesday 2nd October 2018 Time:          10.00am until 12:30pm (refreshments & networking from 9:30am) Venue:      Allendale House, Castleman Suite, Hanham Road, Wimborne, BH21 1AS To Book Please Click...

Registered Managers Learning Hubs

The ‘Hubs provide support to Managers across Dorset and regular attendees say that they are an extremely useful way of keeping up to date. This saves valuable time in researching the constant changes, keeps them informed about training initiatives, opportunities and funding. The ‘Hubs have evolved in to a Registered Managers Network chaired by a local Registered Manager, and we are also usually joined by the Locality Manager from Skills for Care to hear about their work. During this next round of meetings we are pleased to be joined by colleagues with links to our local Safeguarding Adults Boards who will give us an update, particularly in relation to training (2nd & 3rd October only). We are also pleased to be joined by colleagues from Skills & Learning who are launching a range of courses which will be delivered flexibly, aimed at people working or looking for work in care. As part of this early Autumn round of Learning Hubs you are warmly invited to attend. If you’ve never been before please feel free to come along and find out what you may have been missing!
